Green floral dress | White floral dress | Maroon v-neck dress | Red chiffon dress | Gold chiffon dress | Pink cold shoulder dress

I love the floral trend of prom dresses because it makes the dress more versatile for other occasions. I also really like the look of simple and elegant dresses too! Lastly, the trend of goddess looking dresses is stunning, especially on tanner skin. Overall, I think my favorite of these dresses is the white floral one, because it looks very bohemian and flowy and can definitely be worn to prom or to any fancy gathering!

I hope you enjoy this post and find inspiration for your prom dress!

Prom Dress Ideas and Trends for 2018

Hi everyone! Long time no chat. I took a bit of a hiatus from my blog but now I am back and better than ever.

Prom season has begun and today I am going to be sharing some of my favorite prom dress trends and styles. A lot of people at my school are already starting to look for dresses! It's important to buy them early so that you have many options to choose from and have plenty of time to make any alterations or adjustments if needed.

Floral Prints
It is very fashionable for prom dresses to be more casual and fun! That's why I love the trend of floral print prom dresses. They are perfect for the spring and summer, and they make the dress stand out. What's great about floral print dresses is that they can be worn for many different occasions. That way, if you buy an expensive dress, you can keep on wearing it after prom.

Asymmetrical Hems
Asymmetrical hems on dresses are very striking and show off a little glimpse of skin. They also make your legs look longer and give your legs some breathing room, which is nice when you're dancing in a hot and cramped dance room.

Colorful
Colorful prom dresses are a lot of fun. Picking colors that look great on your skin tone will make you stand out from the rest of your group and make you look stunning in pictures. Certain colors look best on specific skin tones, so make sure to try on different dresses and compare colors in order to find what best suits your skin tone.

Short Slip
Another trend is having a dress with a short slip underneath and a long skirt overlay that is see-through. Normally, the skirt overlay is either mesh or lace. This is another way to show off your legs while also wearing a sophisticated long dress. These types of dresses will also make you look taller!

Ruffles
Lastly, ruffles are another prom trend. They especially work nicely on a body shape that is more straight, as the ruffles add dimension and curves.

I hope this post gave you inspiration for the type of dress you want to wear for prom!

Ice Blue Sleeveless V Neck Long Sequin Chiffon Prom Dress
Sparklly Beading A-line Sleeveless Long Red Chiffon Prom Dress
Beading Strapless A-line Long Chiffon Prom Dress
My favorite dress is the sleeveless v neck because it's very simply and elegant. I also love the light blue color, especially against tan skin. I also really like the gold short dress too. Usually girls wear shorter dresses for junior prom and then longer dresses for senior prom. I also really like the red dress, because I think the pattern on the top part is really cool and unique.

I hope you guys found this helpful :)

Tips on How to Eliminate Stress in High School

Hey everyone! It's been a busy school year for me so far. I'm a junior in high school and I've had to learn how to manage my time and eliminate stress that school, extracurriculars and other activities bring. I'm part of the International Baccalaureate program, and I am currently taking 8 IB classes. I'm also the leader of clubs; I am one of the officers of DECA and I am also the co-president of a human trafficking awareness club at my school. I am also a member of National Honor Society, IB Council, and an IB Leadership Group. I play recreational soccer and basketball with my friends, and I babysit and tutor kids to make money. I also like blogging obviously! My plate has been super full this year. A big change from my Sophomore year has been having 8 classes at a time instead of 4 or 5, that would change after one semester.

Here are some of my tips for eliminating stress if you are in high school!

First off, make a list of all the activities you have going on in your life and prioritize them. When prioritizing, think about what activities and aspects of your life are most important to you. If you have a lot of things going on in your life, than most likely cutting down will decrease stress. Figure out which things on your list aren't as important as others or are causing you this stress and cut back! I quit my job in September because I had too many things going on and not enough time for them all. I would leave school at 2:15, go to work at 4 and then come home as late as 10. Then I would start all my homework and studying. I also had certain days that I couldn't work because of clubs or sports. I decided to quit my job because it took up way too much time and wasn't as important to me as school and clubs. Lucky for me, I didn't need the money and I quit early enough that I my job never got too much in the way of my school work. Once I quit my job, a lot of time opened up for other things that I wanted to do.

Another tip I have for decreasing stress is to exercise. It's scientifically proven that your brain releases endorphins (think of it like happy hormones) while you exercise that make you feel calmer and happier. If you aren't a sporty kind of person, than try yoga. There are many different types of yoga, yoga that deals with more breathing exercises and yoga that is more focused on flexibility and strength. You also don't have to go to a studio to do yoga, you can just do it in your house and follow a video on YouTube. My favorite channel to watch for yoga is YogaWithAdrienne.

This next tip goes along with exercising and it is to eat healthy food, drink plenty of water and spend time outside. Eating healthy foods like fruits and vegetables can put you in a better mood than eating unhealthy foods like chocolate or fries. Healthy food will give you energy and will overall make you feel more positive. Also, drinking a lot of water can reduce stress. It clears your mind and can have a restorative effect. It helps you to think more clearly and gives you energy. Spending time outside, whether it's reading a book or taking a walk will also clear your mind and is better for your overall well-being. It can definitely help if you are feeling overwhelmed of anxious about school or anything else you have going on.

Something that I struggle with is turning off screens. Everyone can get wrapped up in their technology at times and it's important that we power off. Reading is a great way to get your mind off of things and feel less stressed. If you are feeling overwhelmed, checking out a book at your local library that interests you and reading it.

My last and most important tip is to take time for yourself. Relax and spend time doing things you enjoy. Maybe make your room nice and cozy and listen to music or create a peaceful playlist. I make my room feel cozier by turning on fairy twinkle lights and throwing a bunch of blankets on my bed. You can also get a fireplace app on your laptop that will set the screensaver to a fireplace. You can also change the settings to make it crackle and sound like a really fireplace. I also write in a journal to feel less stressed. I constantly juggle things around in my head so putting my thoughts to paper makes my head feel clearer.

Those are my tips and tricks on how to feel less overwhelmed and stressed about high school and life in general. I hope you found this post useful!

Outfits of the Week: 1st Week Back to School | Week in My Life

I have survived my first week of my high school junior year! Yayy! One of the biggest changes from sophomore to junior year is having 8 classes all at once. Before, I would have 4 classes the first semester and then a whole new set of 4 classes during the second semester. Now all my classes are every other day throughout the whole year. Not only will this mean more tests, homework and studying, but it also means having to just remember my schedule... which is actually quite difficult. I keep forgetting what class I have next and whether the class is on an A-day or B-day. Hopefully my schedule will start to stick with me once I get more used to it!

I liked all my classes for the most part, and I knew a handful of kids in each class which was great!

Now on to my outfits for the first week...

MONDAY
I always try to look my best on the first day of school. I have many reasons why I like to do this. One reason being that I usually feel my best when I wear something that I like or look good in. When I feel my best, I am usually more confident and make friends easier than if I had worn an outfit I didn't like. I also like dressing up on the first day because it can be a conversation starter. If you don't know many people in your class but someone walks up and compliments you on your outfit, then you can always start up a conversation with them! A conversation about a shirt can easily turn into a conversation about your favorite TV shows or interests!

My classes on Monday were IB Math, IB Spanish, IB History of the Americas and IB Business Management. I also had to go to homeroom for about an hour and a half every morning for the entire week. I didn't have much homework on the first day, besides signing a bunch of contact/information forms for various teachers.

TUESDAY
As you can tell by the picture, a day has gone by and my floor is already getting to be a mess. Since my classes are all every other day, Tuesday was like my second first day of school. It was my first time being in my B-day classes.

My classes on Tuesday were IB Biology, IB Theory of Knowledge, IB Psychology and IB English. I liked all of my classes and all of my teachers for the most part.

After school I worked from 4 to closing. The store actually closes the doors at 8pm, but we have to do a bunch of work after. There were a few people that stayed in the store after 8, which was pretty annoying. One customer actually complained to us about how a lady at her store stayed until midnight. She ended up being the last customer in the store and finally left a little bit after 8:30. I ended up leaving the store at 9:20, which is pretty late for a school night considering I had to wake up at 5:45 am the next morning. I actually gave in my notice on this day too because I knew working and ding school would be way to stressful. I definitely think I made the right decision!

WEDNESDAY
Today was a very busy day! I had all the same classes that I had on Monday. In my classes, we kept talking about the classroom rules and syllabus... all the usual boring stuff that's covered in the first few days.

After school, I went with my sister to her hair appointment. After that, we went to Target to find school supplies, which they were out of. We ended up just going home without any supplies because I was late for tutoring. I tutored my neighbors, who are in elementary school for about 30 minutes. Then my sister and I went back out to pick up dinner and scrounge around for school supplies. We looked in Walmart, and I bought some binders, paper and pencils. I need binders for every class, so my backpack is going to be soo full and heavy during the year!! Walmart didn't have composition notebooks however, so we had to go to Harris Teeter. There was only one composition notebook left, and my sister and I both needed one, so we had to take one that was on their school supplies display. Next we picked up dinner at Five Guys and brought it home. I love Five Guys and it's one of my fave fast food places by far.

After dinner, I had to call a student that is in the same club as me and work on some club presentations and projects. Then I helped my parents ready the house for my sister, who was going to have a major surgery the following day.

THURSDAY
On Thursday I didn't feel like dressing up for school, so I decided to stay comfy in a t-shirt and shorts. I usually dress down once a week for school, especially when it's super hot outside and I don't want to wear jeans. Today I had all my B-day classes again. During homeroom I worked on a video for my club that we will be airing over the morning announcements next week.

After school I tutored the kids in my neighborhood. It rained a lot this day so my soccer practice was canceled. My sister stayed overnight at the hospital because of her jaw surgery. She only had to stay overnight one time, and then she could come home.

FRIDAY
Today was the last day of my first week back to school! I finished my club video in the morning and then I went to all my classes. My teacher actually brought me and another club officer coffee! I noticed my car tires were looking a little flat this morning so I checked on them between classes. They got worse throughout the day and the huge tropical storm that was coming our way didn't help. I don't know too much about cars so I didn't really know what to do. My teacher actually gave me quarters so that I could get my tires pumped at a self-serve gas station. I went with my friend after school, and we (attempted) to pump air in the tires. A really nice lady actually helped us and told us what to do! Without her we definitely would've been stuck at the gas station for a long time trying to figure out what to do. Thankfully I made it home safely!

Cute Back to School Supplies to Keep You Motivated ♡

Back to school supplies

Hey guys! Back to school is just around the corner for me and may have probably already started for you! I go back August 29th, which is later than most people, but still seems too soon. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing all my friends again and being busy all the time. The only problem is that I can't stand waking up at 5:50 every morning! Even waking up this early, I still find myself rushing to eat breakfast and put on makeup. One of the most exciting things about going back to school for me is getting extremely cute school supplies! I don't know if I'm the only one, but shopping for new school supplies and organizing my backpack is like heaven for me. I remember one year for Christmas I got school supplies as one of my presents.

Getting pretty school supplies always motivates me in the beginning of the school year to be organized and jump right back into the swing of things. I always color code my classes (matching blue folder and binder for math- that sorta thing). Try picking a color scheme for you school supplies or trying new patterns. I love getting pretty planners when I go back to school. It motivates me to write down important dates, homework and things I need to get done. When I have a cute planner, I also check more often to see what I need to do for the day. I'll do a whole other blog post all about my planner and how I stay organized in high school!

Do you have anything in particular that motivates you to go back to school?

Serena's Outfit

Shirt (on sale!) / skirt / heels (on sale!) / vest / bracelet (on sale!) / neck tie / purse

Serena's back to school look is cute and casual like usual. She wears her school uniform very laid back and fun, by tying her neck tie low around her neck and wearing a vest over her shirt. She makes her school look more feminine by wearing a mini plaid skirt and nude heels. If you don't own nude heels then I highly recommend buying them- they will make anything more dressed up! Serena wears a fun snakeskin print handbag too that really makes her outfit look unique and different- everyone at her school is going to be wearing snakeskin this year now that Serena has started this trend!

Blair's Outfit

Blouse (on sale!) / skirt (on sale!) / heels / neck tie / scarf / bracelet / headband / purse

Blair is back at it again with a chic and sophisticated look- this time for back to school. She adds a parisian chic flair by tying a silk neck scarf around her neck over her neck tie. She keeps it classy with a pearl bracelet and then wears fun shoes to spice it up a bit. She also wears an oxblood colored handbag, which she can carry all her school assignments (or not) in.

And who am I? That's another secret I'll never tell. You know you love me. XOXO.

Life Update: Getting My License + AP Testing ♡

I left school early on Wednesday and took my provisional license test! I passed thankfully and will be getting my plastic license mailed to me in a few days. I took my AP Human Geography exam today and after, my friends and I went to an outlet mall and went shopping. Then, I drove with another friend to Rico's Acai, which is a food truck downtown that sells fruit bowls. Here is a picture of the fruit bowls that my friend and I got! We both got the rainbow bowl, except my friend added nutella to hers. The fruit was super fresh and served as a very yummy snack ♡

Shoes Galore! DSW Inexpensive Shoe Haul

My sister and I went on a shoe shopping hunt on Tuesday! We had a day off of school due to the snow, so we decided to do a little shopping... We went to DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse), and they had a bunch of different sales on shoes. I went a little shoe crazy when I saw brand name shoes on sale for $10-$20! They had a great selection of shoes, and I ended up buying three pairs. There were already great deals on clearance, and each shoe in the clearance aisle had a sticker with a color that corresponded to another discount. After that discount was applied, there was an extra 20% off all clearance items!

These are the three pairs of shoes that I bought! Some of the styles of colors of shoes that I got are sold out online at DSW, but you can always check in store to see what they have in stock!

Aldo Gweni Ballet Flat- ($70.00) $13.18
TOTAL- $52.70 (including tax)
SAVINGS- $139.86

These are the Kelly & Katie Isabel Patent Pump in the color grey. They have a slight bluish tint to them, which I really love. I purchased a size 6 1/2 in these.

I bought these Kelly & Katie heels for my DECA state competition, which is in March. DECA is a chapter club at my high school that is all about business and marketing. We have to dress up and wear business/work clothes, so I though these heels would be perfect. These were 50% off the clearance price and then an extra 20% off that price. I ended up buying them for $15.98, which is a great deal.

These are the Aldo Gweni Ballet Flats in the color Bone. They are super soft and comfortable, and there is pretty gold detailing on the heel of the shoe and on the tips on the bows. They were 70% off of the clearance price, and then an extra 20% off of that price. I only paid $13.18 for them, which is a steal! I got them in a size 6 1/2.

I also got these shoes for my DECA competition too, so that if my feet are hurting, I can slip on these comfortable flats. They are still sophisticated, and I think I can get a lot of good wear out of them, since they are a neutral color.

These are the Franco Sarto Gustar Flat Sandal in the color Coral Le. I know it's definitely too cold to be wearing sandals anytime soon, but these were on a pretty good discount as well. They were 50% off the clearance price and then an extra 20% off on that price. I paid $19.98 for them, and I got them in a size 6 1/2.

I love the color of these, and I already have a pair of Franco Sarto sandals in a regular leather and silver color (click this link to see them). Franco Sarto sandals are extremely comfortable and well made. They are my favorite brand of leather sandals, and they are very cute!

Thanks for reading! Hopefully you can find some inexpensive shoes on your shopping trip!

How to: Ace Your High School Final Exams- Makeup, Outfit, Hair and Tips

I am in high school, and we just started taking our finals for our first semester classes. My high school's finals are after Winter break, so most students forget everything they've learned in their class in about 2 weeks. Also, a lot of students forget topics or things that they've learned during the beginning of the class. Here are my tips on how to ace your high school final exams! Hopefully these tips will work for you, and you will get a great grade on your test!

Makeup

I would keep your makeup for exams pretty casual and lightweight, because you don't want to be focused or worried about anything other than your exams. I recommend wearing a BB cream or tinted moisturizer, which will give you lightweight coverage but won't feel heavy like if you were wearing foundation. You can put concealer over any spots that you may want to give more coverage too. Putting concealer in big triangles under your eyes and blending will also brighten up your face and eliminate the appearance of dark circles under your eyes from all that studying. You should add a powder over your concealer and BB cream/tinted moisturizer, so it will stay in place throughout the whole day. I recommend the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder or the E.L.F. Cosmetics Tone Correcting Powder. Also, tightlining your lower waterline with a white eyeliner will brighten your eyes and make you look more awake. I don't recommend going too heavy on your eye makeup however, because you might want to put your head down on your desk and go to sleep after you finish your test, and your eye makeup would smudge. Make sure to put on some mascara, which will open your eyes, and some chapstick or lipgloss and you will be good to go! (Click here to check out my favorite makeup products of 2015!).

Outfit

Being comfortable is really important when taking tests, because I find if I am distracted or uncomfortable, I won't pay attention to little things or do as well on a test. Make sure the clothes you pick fit you right and feel good, because you don't want to keep fidgeting with your clothes. I like wearing leggings and a baggy shirt or jeans and a sweater. Also make sure to bring a sweatshirt with you, because sometimes the classrooms can be really cold in the morning. It all comes down to whatever you feel comfortable in though, because if you feel confident in what you are wearing, then it will make you more motivated.

Hair
I recommend putting your hair up if you have longer hair, because you don't want it to get in the way. I usually put my hair in a loose pony tail, but you can also do a half up, half down or just bobby pin the front strands of your hair back. I also wear my hair in a loose bun when I'm taking tests, because sometimes my hair will get caught in the bolts of the chair and will rip out...which is extremely painful!

Tips
1. Use released exams- I like to go online and find released final exams from the year before, so that I can practice taking the test. This will help you know what you need to study, and what the state or whoever makes your test thinks is important that you should know. Sometimes, the questions on the released exams are extremely similar to the questions on the exam you will take.

2. Break up your study sessions- Count up how many units or topics you have learned over the course of your class, and each day you study, you should study a new topic. If you try to study the night before, you will try to cram too many things in your brain, which will make you extremely stressed!

3. Go over notes- This seems pretty obvious, but read over the notes you have taken for the class. This will refresh your memory of the important things you learned. If you thought it was important enough to take notes on, then you should read it! Also, do a few problems from quizzes you have done or worksheets you have completed earlier in the year.

4. Get a good night's sleep- Don't study late into the night right before your exam! It's way better to get a good nights sleep and be well rested. Do things that will help relax you like reading a book and lighting a candle.

5. Eat healthy- Make sure to eat a good filling breakfast, so you aren't hungry during the exam. Also, make sure to bring water to your exam if you can, because water will clear your mind and help you be more focused. Also chew a piece of gum during the exam, because studies have shown if you chew a piece of gum while you're studying and then chew the same flavor while taking your test, it will help you remember things from when you were studying.

Tips and Tricks to Get Up, Ready and Out the Door Fast for School

My high school starts at 7:10 A.M. and I have to leave for school by 6:35! I am always rushing so that I can make it to school on time. It's hard to wake up in the morning, and when you keep pressing the snooze button, you end up having 10 minutes of time to get ready! Here are my tips and tricks on how to get ready for school fast, so you can get the maximum amount of sleep possible!

Tip #1: Plan your outfit the night before

The night before a school day, I always do a few little preparations for school the next morning, that way I can sleep in a bit more and won't have to worry about doing those things in the morning. I always pick out my outfit the night before, because if I don't, I end up rampaging my closet while trying on different outfits to wear for 20 minutes and then end up wearing the outfit I tried on originally. I always check the weather on my phone for the next day and plan my outfit accordingly. Then I lay all my clothes and accessories out next to my bed, so that when I wake up in the morning I know exactly what I'm wearing and can change in less than 1 minute.

Tip #2: Make your lunch the night before

The night before a school day, I also make my lunch for school the next day, because usually making my lunch takes about 5-8 minutes. Sometimes when I make my lunch in the mornings, I'm out of the foods that I usually put in it so I have to scrounge around the fridge looking for food. If I make my lunch the night before, I can get all that taken care of, and it won't take time out of my morning. Once I make my lunch, I put it in the fridge so that everything stays preserved. I would also always forget to bring water to school, so now I fill it up at night and place it in the fridge right next to my lunch. In the morning I can just grab my lunch and water and leave for school.

Tip #3: Set multiple alarms

Setting multiple alarms in 5 minute increments will wake you up slower so that you can ease in to waking up. I set my alarms to 5:40, 5:45, 5:50, 5:55 and 6:00 A.M. This insures that I won't sleep through any alarms and that I will actually wake up at my desired time, 6:00. Also, on an iPhone you can write a message to yourself when your alarm goes off. That way, you can encourage yourself to wake up, or write things like "wake up or else your makeup will look terrible".

Tip #4: Check your phone

Once I am on my 2nd or 3rd alarm, I will always pick up my phone from my bedside table and turn off all the alarms. The brightness of my phone screen in contrast to the darkness of my room makes my phone look extra bright. I check some of my texts, email or social media for 2-3 minutes and the brightness of the screen makes my eyes feel less sleepy and more awake. Beware not to spend too much time on your phone though, because you don't want to be wrapped up in your phone and waste all your time!

Tip #5: Splash your face with cold water

Every morning , after I get out of bed, I head over to my bathroom and and after washing my face, I splash it with cold water. This helps me be more awake, so that I will get ready faster and won't still be sleepy and slow while getting ready.

Tip #6: Drink cold water after waking up

Drinking cold water after waking up will help you feel more energized and awake, and it also kick-starts your metabolism, along with breakfast.

Tip #7: Get in a routine

Get in an everyday makeup routine, where you know the products you are going to use and how to apply them correctly. Every time you do your makeup, you will get a little bit faster, because you will be so used to doing it. The same goes for your morning routine in general. If you always follow the same general morning routine, you will end up getting faster and faster at it, because you will be familiar with it.
